Understanding Our Impact
The impact our operations have on the environment change along the supply chain, but at each and every stage, our sustainability strategy looks at how we can address that impact.
In industry studies farming, has been shown to be the single biggest contributor to the carbon footprint in the life cycle of British pork.
We’re working to reduce the impacts of animal feed and increase sustainability by:
- Encouraging farmers to replace imported soya with home-grown protein sources (such as peas & beans)
- Reducing reliance on imported soya in feed
- Targeting improved feed conversion ratios
- Explore ways of using more food waste in pig feed.
