Farming

BQP, which is part of Tulip's subsidiary, Dalehead Foods, is a pig production company with a 10% market share of UK pig production. Dalehead Foods is an integrated farming, slaughtering and processing company which has been supplying Waitrose for over thirty years.

Based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border in Stradbroke, BQP works closely with approx. 250 farmers who are largely based in East Anglia.

To maintain the highest of health standards, our farms are split into separate breeding and finishing units with breeding farms averaging 800-1,000 sows. BQP also has its own in-house vet practice, recording systems, field staff and trials facility.

All herds are repopulated by our dedicated Multiplication
Farms, which ensures the integrity of BQP's health status.

All BQP's pigs are born outdoors and reared on straw based solid floor units in an all-in all-out batch system.

Using about 300,000 tonnes of animal feed every year, most of our supplies are largely sourced from one dedicated mill.

All our farms are members of the Freedom Foods Assurance scheme as well as Red Tractor Assurance.

BPEX (British Pig Executive), NPA (National Pig Association), BPHS (British Pig Health Scheme), FAWC (Farm Animal Welfare Council) and PVS (Pig Veterinary Society).
