About the Tulip Westerleigh site

The Westerleigh operation started in the mid-70's when the resident farmers built an abattoir. Three changes of ownership and much development later the site was purchased by Dalehead in 1991 to provide a central facility for a major retailer. In 1999 the business became part of Flagship Foods, and then in 2004 part of the Fresh Meat Division of Tulip. Following a major investment project the site is now established as a dedicated bacon and fresh pork supplier in addition to being an important abattoir and boning resource for Tulip.

Training

A substantial number of employees have obtained NVQ level 2 qualifications. All new employees receive thorough food safety/hygiene, and health and safety training.
