Our community credentials are important – which is why we have chosen to support the Variety Club Children’s Charity, probably one of the UK’s best known charities. But we’re not lending our support because of the charity’s high profile, but because it makes an enormous difference to the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children throughout the UK. The Variety Club provides assistance in the form of beds, car seats, lifts, hoists, medical sheets, specialised electric wheel chairs, Sunshine coaches and fully equipped hospital wards for children and young people. It also organises some great days out for disadvantaged and disabled children through the Variety at Work programme.

Each production site within the Tulip Ltd group has decided on a fund-raising target that they are aiming to reach within a twelve month period. The means by which they are doing so are many and varied and range from golf days, raffles, barbecues, website sponsorships and cookery competitions to an “It’s a Knockout” competition, fun-days, and sponsored cycle rides.

It’s not easy raising money in these straitened times, but Tulip’s employees have tackled their respective missions with a vengeance. Indeed, it is at times like these, when money is tight and public funding under huge pressure, that the role of charities like the Variety Club becomes more crucial than ever – and fund-raising activities ever more important.

We hope that Tulip will make a real difference to the lives of the families who rely on the Variety Club to make their lives just a bit more manageable.
