About the Tulip Coalville site

Pork products have been manufactured on the Tulip site in Coalville for over seventy years. What started as a small slaughterhouse (Belvoir Meats) supplying pork products including bacon, sausage, pies, hams, black puddings, haslets etc to a local shop in Coalville grew to distribute product nationally by 1970.

As with many similar establishments rationalisation has taken place throughout the years - slaughtering ceased in 1963 and ham production became the mainstay of the factory by the mid 70's, with uncured turkey and beef production added in 1980. The Belvoir name was replaced by Tulip in 2003 and plans for a substantial investment were instigated. The new state-of-art ham cooking facility commenced production in May 2006.

A substantial number of the staff at Coalville have now achieved an NVQ Qualification. We encourage the internal development and promotion of staff, and also have conducted an induction refresher for all staff which included hygiene and health & safety procedures. The site run many courses from NVQs to the Institute of Leadership and Management.
