Purchasing Manager

A vacancy has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to lead the purchasing team, working across our Linton & Bury sites. The successful candidate will be the pivotal link between group procurement and Dalehead Foods (Linton/Bury St Edmunds) for all dry goods activities, contributing to group project work when required. You will effectively manage the supply and stock levels of dry goods at both the Linton and Bury St Edmunds sites by working closely with the rest of the purchasing team as well as the planning and wider operations teams. The successful candidate will achieve this through the careful interpretation of usage data to anticipate future demand, by forward planning, close liaison with internal customers/external suppliers and continual monitoring and reassessment. You will be responsible for the management of the supply of goods and stock levels of dry goods at each site through the effective management of your team, within agreed timescales/targets and given systems.

The successful candidate will maintain and build close business relationships with suppliers and internal/external customers and ensure that the department provides an effective and efficient level of service as well as ensure that all dry goods are purchased from Tulip Ltd or customer approved suppliers at the most competitive price and in line with Tulip wide approved suppliers and terms and conditions. The successful candidate will ensure any site bespoke, one off purchases or carriage charges are negotiated at the most competitive price, if not under contracted terms. In addition you will be responsible for managing obsolete stock, monitoring and managing wastage as well as managing, supporting and developing the purchasing team, which is based across the two production sites.

The successful candidate will have proven purchasing experience at a managerial level, ideally within a large, multi-sited manufacturing environment and ideally within food. You will have the ability to work independently, have great people skills and be able to focus on the support and development of the team whilst always effectively working with all other internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best results for the site/s. You will have excellent organisation and communication skills, be highly numerate and analytical and be an excellent team player. Excellent IT skills are a must, particularly excel and a sound knowledge of SAP would be very beneficial. Packaging and ingredient knowledge is essential and CIPS part or fully qualified would be an advantage.
