Raw Materials and Product Specification Technologist

We are seeking a Raw Materials and Product Specifications Technologist to join the specifications/process team based at our Linton site. This successful candidate will work closely with the Specifications Technologists as well as the process, technical, product development and commercial teams and our suppliers, to create, maintain and update accurate product specifications for products across our Linton and Bury St Edmunds sites as well as raw materials specifications for all new materials.

In conjunction with all relevant stakeholders you will write product and raw materials specifications on both web based and internal systems as well as coordinate / distribute the artwork for checking within the given timescales. You will use the internal risk assessments to evaluate new raw materials and provide feedback to the development team on compliance of these materials against required standards. Maintenance & updating of internal & Waitrose product specifications will form a key part of this role, making the necessary amendments as required within given timescales. In addition to the above you will also produce and maintain Quality Attribute Sheets for all retail products, be involved in factory trials and recording pf photo standards, escalate potential risks to preventing a positive customer experience, identify potential resolutions where possible and above all assist the Specification and development teams in achieving a right first-time experience for the customer, with minimal pre-launch amendments. You will also work closely with the group supplier assurance team to ensure all suppliers meet our approval standards and identify and address any potential risks.

Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have a flexible and enthusiastic approach; have experience in food manufacturing, specifically regarding both raw materials and product specifications and artwork as well as experience in working with suppliers. You will have an awareness of concerns regarding nutrition, food tolerance and allergens alongside strong administrative, organisational and communication skills. You will have strong IT skills including experience of using web based specifications systems and ideally hold a degree in Food Science/Technology or equivalent.
